Summary
Fires and explosions were reported at the Kstovo refinery and neighboring power plant in Nizhny Novgorod oblast, Russia, early on November 1. Ukraine's Fire Point company claimed the strike and sources describe drone attacks on the site, but Ukrainian officials deny the attack took place. Residents circulated footage of large blazes around 4:00 a.m. local time and reported a series of explosions. Russian Governor Gleb Nikitin confirmed serious damage to an unnamed industrial site in the Kstovo district and said over 100 drones were downed. Accounts differ on the exact facilities damaged and the extent of the damage, and the cause of the fires has not been officially confirmed.
