Summary

On October 9, 2026, a powerful tornado struck Marsala, Petrosino, and Mazara del Vallo, causing significant damage to buildings, vehicles, and a school. Dramatic footage showed the tornado swirling through the city, where vehicles were overturned. The extreme weather event resulted in 2 people being injured. While some reports suggest the storm resembled a war zone and others compare it to American tornadoes, the head of Sicily’s Civil Protection agency linked the event to the climate crisis and heat buildup.
