Summary
Solar power systems have been installed in Nova Sociedade and other remote Amazon communities in Brazil, replacing diesel generators and providing clean water and electricity to homes, schools, and health centers. The initiative, supported by the nonprofit Saude e Alegria, aims to prepare communities for potential droughts caused by El Niño. According to reports, the installation has improved access to electricity and clean water, enhanced healthcare and education services, and reduced noise pollution. One report indicates the solar installation has been replicated in 29 other communities beyond Nova Sociedade.
