Summary
Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported sustained People's Liberation Army (PLA) activities in the waters and airspace around Taiwan from September 23 to October 8, 2026. The reports document recurring PLA aircraft sorties and naval ship operations in the region. PLA aircraft frequently entered Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), with some crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait. The number of detected aircraft sorties ranged from 2 to 23 per reporting period, while naval vessels detected included both PLAN ships and official Chinese government ships, typically numbering between 5 and 14 vessels per period. The Republic of China Armed Forces responded to these activities by deploying combat air patrol aircraft, naval ships, and coastal missile systems throughout the period.
