Summary

On October 11, 2026, an IndiGo flight 6E 6115 traveling from Delhi to Chennai diverted to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, Hyderabad, after smoke emerged from a passenger's power bank stored in an overhead storage bin. Witnesses reported seeing flames inside the bin, which passengers attempted to smother with bags before the cabin crew intervened with firefighting equipment. The aircraft landed safely at the airport, and no damage was reported to the plane. Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident, and the airline arranged for an alternate aircraft to transport the passengers to their original destination.
