Summary

A Nigerian Air Force helicopter made a precautionary landing on farmland in Makurdi, Benue State, after completing a close air support mission against suspected kidnappers in the Ogbadigbo area near the Enugu-Benue boundary. The landing occurred in the Utur Tse-Igboji community. Eyewitnesses saw the helicopter make a precautionary landing, and residents and eyewitnesses rushed to the scene to assist the officers aboard the aircraft. The NAF stated the pilot executed the landing as a professional safety measure in accordance with operational procedures following the combat mission. Some reports describe the landing as an emergency landing due to a technical fault, while others characterize it as a precautionary landing with no emergency. One report noted the helicopter was tilted and stuck in soft farmland. The helicopter subsequently returned safely to base. No death or injury count is established for this incident.
