Summary

A Nigerian Air Force helicopter made a precautionary landing on farmland in Makurdi, Benue State, after completing a close air support mission against suspected kidnappers in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area near the Enugu-Benue boundary. Eyewitnesses saw the helicopter make the precautionary landing, and residents rushed to assist the officers aboard. The NAF stated the pilot executed the landing as a professional safety measure in accordance with operational procedures following the combat mission. Reports differ on whether the landing was precautionary or due to a technical fault, and one account noted the helicopter was tilted and stuck in soft farmland. The helicopter subsequently returned safely to base.
