Summary
On October 25, 2026, a landslide struck the Taman Seri Rambai site in Paya Terubong, resulting in the death of Dr. Wong Kar Lin, who was recovered from the kitchen of his home. Authorities have halted construction at a nearby residential project and paused slope reinforcement activities to conduct safety assessments. While initial inquiries suggested that a blocked drain and damaged water conduit may have contributed to the ground instability, the Penang Island City Council is investigating the incident alongside the Occupational Safety and Health Department. Residents of six neighboring homes have been evacuated as officials monitor the area for further soil movement.
