Summary

On September 28, 2026, Ethiopian state military units and allied forces secured the town of Alamata following several days of combat against insurgent fighters. The capture of this strategic supply hub, which has changed hands multiple times in previous conflicts, marks a significant development in the ongoing hostilities between the federal government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front. While pro-government sources claim control of the area, some reports indicate that the situation remains unclear. The fighting has led to the Tigrai TV headquarters and other infrastructure in the region being rendered out of service.
