Summary
A husband and wife passed away last night following critical burn injuries sustained during a gas cylinder blast at their residence in Tongi, Gazipur, on the previous morning. The incident took place at approximately 6:00am yesterday within the Mudafa neighborhood of Cherag Ali in Tongi, allegedly resulting from a leaking gas cylinder. The victims were 60-year-old Md Lalchan and his 50-year-old spouse, Mosa Nasima Begum, who both worked in the garment industry. Their 16-year-old daughter, Tanisa Akter, is currently receiving medical care at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery located in Dhaka. Resident physician Dr. Sultan Mahmud Shikder at the facility reported that Lalchan sustained burns over 95 percent of his body, while Nasima and Tanisa suffered burns covering 85 percent and 86 percent, respectively. Md Arifur Rahman, the officer-in-charge at Tongi West Police Station, verified the fatalities and stated that a gas cylinder leak triggered the explosion.
