Summary

Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, including an Assistant Commandant and a Sub-Inspector, were killed in a firing incident on September 29, 2026, at the Sewa-II/III Hydroelectric Power Project in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir. A CISF Head Constable (named variously as Abdesh Kumar, Awadhesh Singh, Abhidesh Kumar, Avdesh Kumar, or Avdesh Kumar in reports) allegedly opened fire on his colleagues following an argument. The deceased were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed, and Constable Sandeep Kumar. The accused was disarmed, taken into custody, and handed over to local police. Reports differ on the trigger for the dispute, with some citing a general argument, others mentioning a physical altercation, and one report suggesting the argument concerned bringing a child to the workplace. The CISF has initiated an internal inquiry, and investigations by police and the force are ongoing. The incident has not been confirmed by CISF in official statements.
